Inference Questions

Inference Questions are similar to that of the Reading Comprehension but the only difference between the CR and RC Inference Question is that in CR GMAT examinee won’t ask you exactly about the Inference. In fact the question of this type is so basic that as soon as you see these questions you will answer the question correctly. The Inference question in Critical Reasoning (CR) basically asks to infer from the conclusion from the premises in the passage. You should be good to find out how many premises are their in the passage and how each premise effect the conclusion.

How to recognize an Inference Questions

In Critical Reasoning when ever you see question containing these words, you have encountered Inference Questions

1. Which of the following can be inferred from the information above?
2. Which of the following must be true on the basis of the statement above?
3. Which of the following conclusions best be supported by the passage?
4. Which of the following conclusions could most properly be drawn from the information above?

GMAT Disguise

You may think that the last two questions may be asking about the conclusion but they are not. They are simple asking about the inference from the passage.

How to crack Inference Questions

• General mistake the students in the GMAT test when dealing with the Inference Questions is that they go too far when answering.
• Only answer the question in the light of the passage and the answer choices given.
• Don’t use the information from the outside or your personal information about the topic discussed.
• The statement should not miss or ignore any of the premises given in the passage. Statement should not go beyond the scope of the arguments. Carefully deal with the sentimental choices. They seem correct but not related to the passage conclusion or the premises.
