Adjective Modifiers
An Adjective modifiers modifies a noun or pronoun. A adverb also modifies the verb, but it also comes called an adjective, another adverb, a preposition or a phrase.
Let explain this Example
The SMART man acts QUICKLY.
Here the adjective SMART modifies the noun MAN, while the adverb QUICKLY modifies the verb ACTS.
NOTE: Be sure not to use adjective where an adverb is required
Example:
Incorrect: My friend David is a REAL interesting person.
Correct: My friend David is a REALLY interesting person.
In the above example what we have use REAL or REALLY, adjective or adverb. What rule you have to remember: Adjective only modify NOUN, while adverb modify VERBS, ADJECTIVES or other ADVERBS
You should be sure enough what is adjective and what is adverb. Fr example good is an adjective that tell something about the noun where as WELL can be used either as an adjective that mean healthy or as an adverb that means competently.
Lets use it in the sentence to make it more clear
- David is a GOOD person. ( GOOD is an adjective modifying the noun DAVID)
- DAVID is feeling WELL ( WELL is an adjective modifying the noun DAVID)
- DAVID writes WELL ( WELL is noe adverb and is modifying the verb form WRITES)
