• You will have reading speed between 180-250 words per minute.
• You will have practiced extensive reading for 45 minutes a day for several months.
• You will have a working knowledge of about 2,000 college level vocabulary words.
• You will have good test -taking reading strategies.

Strategies for TOEFL iBT Reading Section.

Some basic reading strategies that you should use during your actual TOFEL iBT are as follows-

• Understand the directions.
• Don’t read the directions when they appear. Quickly move on to the passages and questions.
• Don’t fear if you read a passage on unfamiliar topic.You can answer the question using the information in the passage without having any background information on the topic.
• Do not try to understand the every detail of passage, skim the each passage so you can get the main points.
• Identify what type of question you are being asked and than locate where the information is found in passage.
• Avoid spending too much time on any single question.
• Monitor the time carefully on the monitor bar of the computer screen.
• Make sure you answer every question before the time has expired even if you are guessing which can only increase not decrease your score.
